Industry at Daher: Driving performance and decarbonization

In Nantes, France, Daher has laid the foundations for the connected aerospace factory through the ODDICEA project. With this ambitious R&D effort, supported by the Pays de la Loire Region, Daher is accelerating its digital and energy transformation – a strategic driver for the industry of the future. The goal of ODDICEA is to scale up innovative methods and tools to modernize all of the Group’s industrial sites. It represents a major step toward Industry 4.0, delivering tangible benefits for customers and the entire value chain.

“The aerospace industry must reinvent itself, and Daher is convinced that innovation and a long-term commitment will make us a driving force in this transformation.”
Alain-Jory Barthe, Director of Daher’s Industry division
Measurable benefits already achieved
The first phase, carried out over five years (2018–2023), enabled Daher to take a decisive step in the digitalization of its industrial sites by connecting equipment as well as organizing the collection and use of data.
This digitalization translates into immediate improvements in quality and responsiveness: operators have real-time information to ensure part compliance and anticipate any deviations, achieving higher quality standards and significantly reducing non-conformities.

Additionally, the introduction of digital dashboards – “supply chain cockpits” –improves supply chain management (OTD/On-time delivery, OTQ/On-time quality) and simplifies production planning and component/material procurement, while enhancing collaboration with partners.
“The project enabled us to establish the fundamentals of a connected factory, both in terms of methods and technical expertise. Today, the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) implemented at Nantes under ODDICEA also is deployed at our French sites in Tarbes and Montrichard. And the supply chain cockpits we developed are now used across several Group sites.”
Dominique Bailly, Daher’s R&D Director
Phase one of ODDICEA delivered concrete results: increased productivity on connected workstations, significant reductions in energy consumption – up to 35% savings on certain equipment – and CO₂ emissions from heating and electricity (with reductions as much as 40%).

These achievements earned Daher the Digital Revolution Award at the 2023 Heroes Ceremony, underscoring the Group’s commitment to delivering consistent quality and performance standards across all sites.
Focus: MES, a key asset for industrial performance
The Manufacturing Execution System (MES) deployed by Daher is a central digital tool that tracks production performance in real time. Every step of the industrial process is traced, analyzed, and optimized. For customers, this ensures complete traceability, faster response to disruptions, and consistent product quality. MES also anticipates needs, adjusts schedules, and secures delivery times.
ODDICEA 2: Accelerating decarbonization and competitiveness
Building on this foundation and with renewed support from the Pays de la Loire Region, Daher launched ODDICEA 2 to accelerate the transformation of its industrial activities. The goal: make data accessible to all production stakeholders with the goals of maximizing performance, optimizing costs, and reducing environmental impact.
This approach reflects a long-term vision: providing customers with industrial solutions that are increasingly reliable, innovative, and sustainable.
“We want to make data a driver of performance and sustainability by empowering every factory stakeholder,” emphasizes Dominique Bailly.
As part of ODDICEA 2, Daher implemented a comprehensive energy metering plan at the Nantes plant, along with its Shap’in composites technology center. By integrating these innovative energy monitoring tools, equipment energy consumption is tracked in real time, recorded, and optimized – significantly reducing the manufacturing carbon footprint.
This commitment is aligned with Daher’s ambitious trajectory: halving emissions from operations between 2022 and 2032, ensuring that customers benefit from an industrial partner fully engaged in the ecological transition.
Focus: Energy monitoring – a driver of performance and sustainability
The energy metering standard developed under ODDICEA is structured to measure, analyze, and continuously optimize industrial equipment energy consumption. This innovation guarantees more environmentally responsible production while controlling costs. Results are tangible: in Nantes, energy monitoring delivered a 35% electricity savings and a 17% savings in gas for the site’s air treatment system, while maintaining stable and high-quality production conditions. This approach – now deployed at multiple sites (Montrichard, Tarbes, and Nantes in France, and soon Tangier in Morocco) – directly enhances Daher’s competitiveness and environmental responsibility.
Data: A means of delivering reliability and operational excellence
Smart use of production data is becoming a true performance engine. Leveraging advanced statistical analysis and workstation digitalization, Daher’s goal is to detect deviations earlier, anticipate defects, and guarantee optimal product compliance.
This increased process control reduces lead times, optimizes costs, and ensures consistent quality. Automated checks and simplified workflows accelerate production cycles while minimizing non-quality costs.
An industry focused on the future
The ODDICEA initiative reflects a long-term vision aligned with the Industry 5.0 model promoted by the European Union. Beyond industrial performance, Daher places the well-being of operators at the heart of its priorities, convinced that engaged, well-equipped teams are key to quality production.
Continuous investment in advanced digitalization and decarbonization guarantees cutting-edge industrial solutions for customers that meet tomorrow’s challenges: reliability, agility, competitiveness, and environmental responsibility.
Through this transformation, Daher offers its customers and partners definite assurances: high-quality products, delivered on time, with a reduced environmental footprint and a continuous capacity for innovation – ensuring lasting success for their projects.
