DAHER SECURES A CONTRACT TO PRODUCE STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS FOR THE LEAP ENGINE
For the LEAP®-1B, the engine to be fitted to the Boeing B737 MAX, Daher is to be responsible for the industrial development and production of 65% of the composite noise reduction panels on behalf of Snecma (Safran). This new contract will further strengthen Daher’s position as a supplier to aero engine manufacturers.
Paris, June 11, 2015 – With the International Paris Air Show due to open its doors in just a few days time, Daher is proud to announce that it will be a partner to the LEAP*-1B engine program. The company is using its engineering expertise and up-to-the-minute specialist experience in composites to optimum effect in providing its support to Snecma on this program.
(*) The LEAP engine is being developed and produced by CFM International, a 50/50 joint venture between Snecma (Safran) and GE.
Design and manufacturing of structural elements
Daher’s contribution to the LEAP-1B engine is to supply a part that will make it possible to meet a considerable challenge: to reduce the engine’s acoustic footprint. At its plants in St Julien (France) and Nogales (Mexico) Daher is working on the industrialization and manufacturing of 65% of the upstream noise reduction panels produced in the form of a single composite shroud.

A stronger position as a supplier to aero engine manufacturers
This success in partnering up for the LEAP-1B program strengthens Daher presence in the “Engine & Underwing” product segment, in which Daher already works together very closely with aero engine manufacturers and aircraft manufacturers to which it provides parts for the APU (Auxiliary Power Unit), nacelle fairings and engine pylon structures.
In addition to this, Daher is also a logistics partner to Rolls Royce, Turbomeca (Safran) and Pratt & Whitney Canada.
